Atlantic buoy hook 5 ton / 120 cm
The buoy hook is a handy tool when mooring to a buoy. The Atlantic buoy hook has a convenient pistol-shaped handle for a good grip. This season, we have improved the user comfort of our hooks. The traditional hooks with wire loops are not particularly comfortable to use, because the weight of the hook presses the wire deep into the palm muscles, and it does not feel nice. The design of the new model is focused on user comfort. We have added a palm support to the hook, which distributes the weight on the palm evenly. This makes the hook particularly suitable for women with small hands. This way, the man can be the captain again, while the woman can be the happy sailor taking care of catching the buoy ring with a buoy hook suitable for her hands. The angle of the hook has also been opened up, so that it would be like an extension of the hand.
Hook set-up in brief:
Image 1. Grab the hook.
Image 2. Push your index finger through the hook ring.
Image 3. Bend your finger and pull the ring towards your palm. The tip of the hook will open.
Images 4A and 4B. Keep the ring pulled with your index finger. You can also use two fingers. Now grab the buoy ring.
5. Release the finger ring by straightening your index finger. The tip of the hook will close, and the buoy ring will have been caught. The hook will catch on to the buoy ring well, and is easy to detach even when pulling. The hook section is manufactured from acid-resistant stainless steel, whose tensile strength is many times larger compared to ordinary steel.
Tensile strengths from 5 and even 7 ton are available. For us, the mooring safety of your vessel is of utmost importance.
The buoy rope runs through the rope guide ring at the hook's handle end, to be fastened to the hook by a shackle (thimble) or secure knot. The length of the buoy rope adjacent to the rope guide ring should be protected by sail repair tape in order to prevent chafing damage.
